I would like to suggest a feature to be able to watch the tips of the day of previous weeks. As far as I can tell it is not possible and it would be great. Sunday’s tip is missed if you don’t check the app on sunday. Also since I thought i’d be able to browse history I missed out on the first week and would like to go back to it.
I’m on Android 1.0.10.23, which I believe it’s the latest. I saw an email a few days back saying that the Academy Search Function has been fixed, but mine still doesn’t work. I try search words Like “Pine” or “Juniper” and I get nothing in all subcategories. With an empty search field, I get results to populate fine.
Thank you all
Carlos
I have some tree like that as well not just boxwood btw
Gee13 said the broadleaf calendar isn’t available for everyone.
Suggested feature: It would be helpful to see what pro-academy content there is if you’re a standard member. It’s hard to evaluate whether or not it’s worth persuing the higher membership otherwise. Perhaps have them visible but locked.
That said, I have to disagree with the decision to lock detailed lessons behind an even greater paywall. Completely understand how expensive app development is, but in the past standard meant getting all the info while pro was geared towards greater interaction with the Mirai team. Something to think about in the long term, but I don’t feel your current membership tier model works anywhere near as well with the app and could perhaps afford to be rethought.
App suggestion. It may be handy to allow a skipped activity to be reversed. When looking at a specific tree I didn’t realize that all trees with that action to perform popped up under that single tree, and skipped something on the wrong tree. Tried to tap again to reverse and its still skipped. That being said I think this could be avoided if when you selected a tree you could only skip on the selected tree but see just see that more trees have that maintenance due.
Thanks for all the work on this.
In life things aren’t free and you get what you pay for.
I think all the complaints about paying for a top notch education are a little unfounded. If you attend a junior college do you ask them why they can’t give the same valued degree as a 4 year university? When you go to a place to eat do you tell them you want the more expensive burger for the dollar menu price? In my opinion the higher tier of Mirai is more valuable than both.
To be clear, I was not complaining about a tiered system, just pointing out that the gating of educational content for standard members runs counter to the design philosophy the two tiers followed prior to the launching of the app. One of the things I most admired about Mirai was that it wasn’t locking away half of the educational livestreams from standard members. This is very valuable for young bonsai enthusiasts like myself for whom a pro membership is prohibitively expensive (in fact I cancelled Netflix and Spotify to be able to afford Mirai standard).
My thought is simply that, as the team continue to refine and add further features to the academy app, I hope they return to their previous design philosophy of Standard unlocking educational content and Pro unlocking access to/interactions with the Mirai team (however they decide to design that). That sort of thing goes a long way to furthering Mirai’s goal of democratising bonsai knowledge.
Either way, excellent app and I’m enjoying it a great deal. Already finding it very useful and looking forward to seeing where it leads us in the future.
Yeah, I can see Aidan’s point. However I’m guessing all of the previous content you are talking about is still available at the standard level. I also think Ryan still believes in democratization of information, at least I hear him saying that and I believe him. I’m guessing he’s already thought about this to a certain extent. Maybe he wasn’t super pleased that this is the way it worked out either, maybe it was a difficult decision. Maybe he’s one of small group of folks that have figured out how to make a living in a field where it’s pretty tough to sustain a business. I give him a lot of credit for making it as far as he has, I’m sure there have been a lot of difficult decisions along the way. I’m not going to second guess any of his decisions when it comes to operating Mirai in a way that enables him to keep the lights on; I’m sure I would have failed long ago if I was on the same journey.
In my own selfish interests I’m just hoping he continues to do what he needs to do to provide the service he does. For me, bonsai is a hobby and something I really enjoy. I’m thinking for most others it’s probably the same, even for folks that are trying to make a little money at it. I feel fortunate that the Mirai team is out there doing what they do. For me it feels a little like a symbiotic relationship (although I think we are the same species) I’m happy to support their cause and I’m getting something in return.
Suggestion: I’m looking at my registered trees one by one in “My Trees” and trying to decide which actions in the calendar I want to skip this year. I can decide to skip “This Week’s” action but not upcoming actions. I suggest this becomes a feature in one of the next releases as I can imagine people might want to plan ahead their year on a tree by tree basis.
Suggestion: My Trees > select a tree > select an Upcoming action > set one tree’s action as “Skip”
Touching the Skipped button doesn’t allow you to set the skip to off. I suggest this button can be used to set it on and off
Another suggestion: Most of the Tip of the Day videos seem to be from prior Live Q and As. Could you reference the original Q and A #? Sometimes it seems like there was a bit more explanation that gets cut off due to the time limit on the Tip of the Day, but if we wanted to delve just a little deeper or hear the original question for background, knowing where to find that would be helpful.
Thanks!
Small suggestion. I would be convenient if we could have the option to add the “tip of the day” or the “General Care” videos to the tool box function.
That way all the users important video info is conveniently located in one location. Kinda like an important notes or frequently accessed section for the users
Dear Mirai Team, when do you plan to introduce new general calendar like Broadleaf and specific ones like e.g., Desciduous etc.? Thanks for sharing. I like a lot of content so far Cheers from abroad, M
I’m not sure why, I downloaded the mobile app on iOS and I have no sound. Any ideas?
Hey there,
I upgraded from the standard subscription to the pro subscription, however, the Mirai Mobile app doesn’t seem to have updated to the new plan. Is this something that just takes time or is there a way to get it activated on the app?
It sounds like your phone might be on silent mode. To turn on the sound for Mirai Mobile you have to switch the toggle on the side of your device to activate the sound within the app:
It sounds like there might be an email issue happening that confuses the subscription type. Send us over an email at support@bonsaimirai.com and we can help fix this!
It wasn’t, I’m not sure what happened because other media worked just fine. I wound up uninstalling the app and hard rebooting my phone and reinstalling it and then it worked.
Feature Suggestion- it would be great if you could see all the default tech tips that are the homepage. Unless I am doing something wrong I can only access the ones for the week you are in.
I have been watching every day since I installed the app which I believe is as soon as it became available on Android. I even bought an older iPhone but it was delayed getting to me. Like the content. If this is ever going to be done, at the very least, labeling them now will save allot of work
