Live stream ideas - Give us Feedback!

Is it possible for a members to “dial-in” and ask Ryan questions directly? Livestream or forum, of course you still have to screen the questions. It might help save time and permits clarification of the question.
Just a thought.

Could you create a featured content around moss cultivation as Ryan quickly describes in Live Q&A LI https://live.bonsaimirai.com/library/video/live-qa-li

Hello, just wondering if a feature for the conclusion of the dwarf alberta spruce stream is still planned?

Hi! Yep, still planning on it, just haven’t had time yet

This is a great idea, thanks! I’ll add it to the list.

Hey Tim! Thanks for this suggestion–at this time we don’t have plans to offer a feature like this (mostly because of the difficulties with screening) but we are always looking for ways to streamline and make the system work more effectively!

@Sam

Also, Ryan said on Live Q&A 117 he needs to update the heat bed construction feature video with some new information. Hopefully you can get to that sometime soon. Thanks again for all your hard work!

Thank you @Sam! Makes sense. Another time then.

Hello Mirai Team,

  • more satsuki videos especially trees in development stage (so that we can follow development over several years/seasons)
  • sakura
with Ryan and special guests (like the one with Peter Warren)
    Merci!

Definitely have azaleas on our list for the next time we get to work with Peter! Satsuki is not one of Ryan’s specialities (I don’t think we have any in the garden currently) so we have to go to other professionals on that one. Noted on sakura, will add that one to the list as well.

Live and Forum Q&A with special Guests
Reading the feedbacks from @Sam that Ryan has (yet) to learn some species (and who knows, fall in love with Satsuki and Sakura as he felt in love with deciduous … :smiling_imp:),what about inviting Peter and the likes from time to time in the Q&A … which will be dedicated to some species so that we can efficiently use the time of the guests on their preferred trees? Not necessary for them to travel: videoconference system can perfectly make the work, maybe image quality can be at a level which will make the video team unsatisfied … :expressionless:

Hello Mirai team !

In a video bonsai empire posted in 2015 introducing Mirai, Ryan talks about a rocky mountain juniper called ‘Baker’ (sorry if I am spelling it incorrectly). Ryan said that Baker is kind of the king of the garden, it was the first rocky mountain juniper he ever styled, and more or less it started bonsai Mirai. In the gallery, the tree is described as ‘rocky mountain juniper no. 17’.

It is kind of surprising that such an important tree has not been featured in any of the streams. I would love to know more about that juniper and its story. It will be amazing to see Ryan working that tree.

Thank you !

Maybe a short stream detailing upkeep and maintenance for tools, specifically im wondering about the sharpening for scissors and cutters, knowing the Japanese knives industry i’m sure there are ways of sharpening, probably even special stones for sharpening, I have never seen this before anywhere else. Thanks and keep up the great work.

HISTORY OF WORK
It would be interesting to have in the description of the stream or in the top right panel the history of main works performed on the tree: Year x: repotting Year X+1: structural wiring etc . It will help to understand the sequence of works performed, and establish connections and insights.

Thanks for this suggestion! I would love to have that information–honestly just a matter of getting Ryan to do that every time  I’ll do my best!

I am sure we could open a few gardens up for him in the uk, should Ryan be anywhere near.

Robin

I have the following recommendations for future streams:

  1. In response to a previous Form Q+A question about a CA juniper I have with tons of deadwood and jin, Ryan said the topic of jin and deadwood selection and design deserved a dedicated stream – so, that would be great
  2. Stream on rebar use
  3. Didactic stream on forest design and management

With the wood carving artist returning it would be great to have another deadwood carving feature.

This is something I was going to post, as well!

A stream on greenhouse fundamentals with bonsai. Or a chicken coop highlight, which I noticed in a video :slightly_smiling_face:
