Design suggestions

Found this juniper at Home Depot about 1 year ago. Did an initial clean up and then let it recover. Looking for suggestions on the next steps and timing. Thanks

How cool is that. A Home Depot yamadori!
I’d change angle slightly so no confusion about apex and take pictures of other views then I’d leave another year to gain

strength. Strength is in foliage we have been told. Repot 2026. Late winter. Style early summer 2026

I agree that it needs to grow for another year or even two before you do any major work in order to gain strength. I also suggest using a plainer background behind the tree for pictures so we can really see the tree. I use the house siding or a section of fence when working alone and have someone hold a sheet sometimes. I also like to take my pictures on overcast days so I don’t get a bunch of shadows confusing things.

all good ideas. thanks. box is a beast. ill work on a background and other views to get more input

I’d leave it to grow, get stronger for at least a year, maybe two.
When the time is right I would start approach grafting to get some branches closer to the trunk to keep it from getting more leggy and have more options to work with when the time comes.
