Some info on field growing trees would be great. After planting starters, how often do you bend, or “style” shape of trunk, prune branches, or tend to them. Or do you let them grow quite large before doing much to them? I would like to put a few in my garden and try it. Maybe the next time you do a stream on a field grown tree, you could discuss this while you work on it. Thanks.

How about thoughts and ideas creating benches and monkey poles? I had idea of using 3" hard copper pipe and stone top for monkey poles but it was expensive. I liked the idea of copper building a natural patina over time in the garden. I still might do in some fashion.

You most likely already saw this live stream, but thought I’d post anyway - https://live.bonsaimirai.com/archive/video/shohin-101

Also, we have a few tree evolutions in our blog up. - https://bonsaimirai.com/node/480 and - https://bonsaimirai.com/node/750

It is possible Peter but probably not something we would implement for organization / aesthetic / content management’s sake

In what way would you want it to differ from his existing video?

“How to recognize and diagnose mistakes”

I like to say that the only true failure is when you don’t learn from it.

There are so many factors that go into success and failure. I’d like to know about many of the most common mistakes that we make. Things we did and things we failed to do. I want to look at a dying branch, a failed graft, root rot, bad coloring, and dead trees and answer the question: “What the bloody hell happened here?”

“Jaboticaba care and maintenance”

Hopefully a species that can be discussed in the upcoming tropical stream? I have had a difficult time finding much information on how to properly handle Jaboticaba as a bonsai.

There was a beautiful Jaboticaba at the Artisans Cup, also featured in Bonsai Empires “Bonsai Mirai, by Ryan Neil”. So I was hoping Ryan might have some insight and knowledge pertaining to the species.

One more suggestion either for a stream, tertiary content and a resource within the mirai website linking them all: How to recognize pests and diseases and what to do.
