Live stream ideas - Give us Feedback!

How about a video/series on watering. Ryan said in a video, that it is the one most problematic skill done wrong by many people and that even he is still working on this skill.
I know you have a wonderful beautiful watering video, but I would like to know way more.
What do look out for. What to do when rotting roots or too dry for too long… etc.

Would be a blast for beginners like me
I would be also always up for more nursery and beginner series. they are super awesome.

And when we are at it, how about a video on seeding

I’m just catching up with streams due to being busy past month+ and am almost speechless after watching discussion with Randy Knight.
Anyway there was a part where Ryan mentioned (and it wasn’t first time!) the quality of field grown material - deciduous specifically. This gave me an idea/suggestion for another discussion, as long as it sounds like good idea to creators of streams, on this topic. Any tips, nuances and perhaps snapshots from ‘hands on field grown trees’ etc.
I believe experiences shared from somebody like Randy Knight would be another gold worth knowledge gained through Mirai live.

Hey Mick! This is a great idea–I’ll check with our developer about it. Thanks!

Hey Anna! We are definitely trying to expand our field grown-related content but there is quite a bit in the library - try searching “field grown” in our search function and see what you come up with. We’ve definitely got content on field grown pines, and there might be a few others. Thanks for your feedback!

Hey Paul! Kendall is actually no longer with Mirai so you can always tag me in the forum if you have questions!

Great idea - we’ll add this to our list. Thanks!

Hey Mike! Unfortunately we did not have the bandwidth to produce a whole video of Ryan finishing the tree, but we will photograph it and make sure that that’s posted in the Forum. It will appear in the Design section. Thank you for checking in!

How about a beginner video of identifying trees?

I didnt read the whole thread, so I’m not sure if it’s been mentioned.

I think proper guy wire technique would be a cool piece of featured content.

Thanks to all the Mirai team for their hard work in assisting me to brain ditch 25yrs of doing Bonsai the wrong way and now learning the correct methods.
How about a scientific study showing two of the same species growing in different mediums. For example, compost and grit vs pure akadama or other mixtures. (I use compost and grit for a lot of my trees having found akadama not to be very satisfactory in terms of health or growth.)
You could use the results to monitor how each tree develops over time and which is best for which species. Just a thought.

Would it be possible to put only audio from all mirai videos to the podcast (or on to soundcloud)? I’m watching some of them over and over again and there is a plenty of useful information not only in terms of how Ryan is executing things but also about the knowledge (like timing, focus points, possibilities, etc.). That would be great to listen to while commuting to work.

Cheers,
Michal

Number 1: the larch!

I’d like to second or third the request for Pinus mugo. Anything on P. m. subsp. uncinata, formerly known as Pinus uncinata would be greatly appreciated. It is quite different from what people picture when thinking about mugo…

I believe that was Episode 12B.

Hello @Sam,

I would also be interrested in understanding branch pad (both pine or juniper) evolution.
There was initial feature content https://live.bonsaimirai.com/library/video/pinus-sylvestris-fundamental-branch-pad-formation but I would like to see what are the next steps. How to make it more dense (if it is masculine design) yet maintaining flawles design structure and avoid any mistakes.

Do you think it is possible?

Cheers,
Michal
