Juniper progress

My first purchase at GSBF auction was a gangly juniper, (probably common). This was about 5 years ago. I was working on some of the deadwood a few years ago at our Humboldt Bonsai society show.

I let it grow for a few years and then did some foliage thinning last winter.

I decided to see if I could put a first styling on it, so for the last week I have been working on this tree. It was 75 degrees on the porch all week, we finally started sunny summer in late September. This is what I got. It has a cool hollow trunk. The thing is only 2/3 of the bulk it was before I put the guy wires on it. My hands are really sore from all the prickly juvenile growth.
