Hemlocks are SUPER sensitive trees. They can and will drop needles or die back when pushed too hard or in the wrong season. Even if the needles on yours were more green, they are very sparse branches! Not a good sign for health. Hemlock feet like to be on the wet side which usually happens anyway as they need lots of shade to survive.

Death is most likely imminent. :skull_and_crossbones:

If this were a Yew, I’d say keep hope. Hemlock are not that resilient. It makes working with them always exciting!

Joe,
Took your direction and put mine in a nice shady spot. Color improved within a week and I believe I am seeing back budding already where the needles were falling off. Will work on the wet feet.
Absolutely great advise!
Thanx

I’m am so glad to hear it, dude!

Roots shouldn’t be soggy of course, but I water my hemlock as if they were a thirsty deciduous tree.

Joe,
If I am not mistaken, those yellow needles look suspiciously like sun burn ( brown tips and all ).
Maybe?

I don’t think this is the issue I am having, but someone else may benefit from this info:
