hi, here is my ginkgo biloba “jehosaphat” before and after styling/repotting
My little Ginko shown earlier in this thread was my first repot of the year (late January). It has been doing great since and is pushing leaves nicely at the moment.
Wow beautiful beast !! @Murph
That s ABSOLUTELY awsome Marc… Post a in leaf photo later.
This is a superb little tree. love the movement! Gingko can be so static this has a little drama can’t wait to see it in leaf.
I’ve been trying to find out how well GB air layer. Some people say they don’t, I’ve read multiple accounts of people who have personally been successful air layering GB. I’m still on the fence. I have a perfect bulge about a third up the trunk to air layer this tree. In my earlier days practicing bonsai, about 10 years ago, I liked these roots, but as I’ve grown in bonsai they bother me more and more. I’m leaning towards going for the air layer this year but still have doubts. I’d love opinions, suggestions and input. Thanks for keeping this thread strong!

Waiting on mine to perk up. Maybe next spring.
Way too much info out there. Still have not seen optimum procedure.
During my first post lock-down trip to a garden center, I found this Gingko. Because it seemed very water logged in its nursery container, I decided to roll the dice and carefully repot it into a smaller plastic container with good soil even though it had already leafed out.
Is anyone familiar with Gingko biloba ‘Mariken’: a dwarf cultivar with smaller cupped leaves discovered growing as a witches broom in the Netherlands.
I like yours Nick.
My gingko I acquired last summer is growing well.
Still bug crazy ugley. NOW, I hate the graft…

Spring…

Never be a flame style…
Every limb I cut back last year died back. None of the cuttings survived…
.
Afraid if I airlayer the top off…
Need to air layer the bottom too.

Odley, it’s a spider magnet. Different little ones on every leaf cluster. One, I didn’t see, was large enough to catch and kill a yellowjacket…!
I’ve got a couple. Great looking foliage but super duper slow growing. Painfully slow.
Has anyone attempted the ph/nitrogen calcium routine for ramified Gingko that Ryan mentioned around 1:31 in the Dennis Vojtilla podcast of May 2018.
Has Ryan mentioned it again or are there test results available?
Sorry, what? You’ll need to expound on it, so I don’t have to go find it… It’s not that I’m lazy… covid made me do it… its friday…
