Friend or Foe? Coastal Live oak

Hello my friends. I found these on both my coastal live oaks in several places. They showed up within the last 2 weeks at the longest. Trees otherwise appear to be healthy and pushing strong

Thanks

Danielle

Hey, this could be some kind of gall. Dissect

Hi! Thanks for the reply. I ended up removing them. They felt like a succulent. There was nothing recognizable inside as a larvae and they must have shown up within a couple days. I searched gall eggs, larvae, and pupae with nothing that looked like this. It’s a mystery, but until I figure it out, they gots to go! :joy:

Danielle!
I have a (almost) adult landscape corkbark oak that has a similar perenial problem.
Aphids jumping from dying overly infected popular trees. They chew the young leaves. The tree respond by curling up like this. They lay microscopic eggs and move on… That looks like bug fras (re:poop) on the right leaf…
.
Light spray of a systemic… Cover your soil… (Unless you have root aphids…) Repeat in two weeks to kill the babies… Be aware of flowering trees… Bees are our friends…
Bonsai On!
