Just saw that Bonsai NW is closing on November 8th. There will be new ownership, and a new location I guess. Sad that BNW will no longer be with the Muth’s! That family has meant alot to the bonsai community in the northwest (Seattle area specifically) for 35 years+!
I have a pot that Sharron Muth made back before she started BNW, I’ll have to go buy a tree from BNW before that close to put in it!
Hopefully the new ownership can carry on the legacy of Bonsai in the Seattle area, and help propel it in to the future.
That’s strange. I was just there Friday, I didn’t see any indication of a change of ownership.I picked up some stock to smuggle back across the border. Hopefully it all works out for the best for them.
I stopped by on Sat. and John said that 35 years in retail was more than enough. He plans to continue his growing beds and stay involved in the bonsai community. That and do some travelling once the COVID restrictions are relaxed.
Oh Darn! I’ve been meaning to go there, better get going! The current location is far from my house, but quick and easy access from the freeway, worrying a bit about where it could get moved to.
John implied it would be somewhere in the South Seattle area when I spoke with him. I heard Auburn mentioned when he was talking with someone else. That would be closer to the Pacific Bonsai Museum in Federal Way.
I talked with the owner for a short while the Friday before they closed everything up and he said most of their stock will be transferred to new owners and that the new owners would probably be operating south of their location but that’s all I heard about it.
