Good day fellow geeks. I recently collected my first Shore Pine (pinus contorta). I’m going to let it settle for at least a year. I have bold ideas for styling, but the chunky bark is making me wonder - is this tree bendy or brittle? Any tales from the trenches on bending/structural wiring on Shore Pines would be appreciated.
Lodgepole subspecies of Pinus contorta seems to be pretty bendy. Only reason not to bend is if there’s thick corky bark.
