Problems? What do you think?

Hi Guys!

I have this chamaecyparis and i believe it’s not doing well.

Some foliage is browning and small parts are dying. Structural branches remain alive for the moment but I am a bit worried.

I got it this summer so there might be some stress involved.

Anybody familiar with the species that can help me to get it healthy again?

As long as you start getting some new growth at the tips, I wouldn’t worry too much.

I have a Chamaecyparis that is still in the ground (for now). It’s in drought conditions in Northern California and doesn’t get watered all that much (light irrigation) or fertilized so it gets pretty ratty by the end of summer. Since I’ve decided to dig it up in the spring, I’ve been watering it a little more lately. Now there is a fair amount of new growth overtaking the dry brown foliage. It should look pretty good in a month or so when the rains start. This happens every year so maybe Chamaecyparis don’t like it hot and dry.
