Hi, I’d like some help identifying this. I found it today on the underside of a leaf on one my trident maples. They look different from any of the photos I’ve seen of red aphids, and they seem larger than a mite would be. I live in south eastern Washington.
Google lens thinks these are Eastern Boxelder Bug eggs (aka Maple Bug)
Given @RedBeard’s location it is probably the closely related western box elder bug.
Scott - Welcome to the community in Eastern Washington. The Inland Empire Bonsai Club meets this meets this Sunday at the Manito Park Meeting room in Spokane from noon to 3 pm if you would like to visit or join.
Thanks for the help. I’d love to come to an inland meeting I am down in Tri-Cities, but I’ll make a trip up to Spokane sometime soon.
