My cat is confused

The other day I was able to remove a beautiful Taxus from a local yard that was going to be re landscaped. We built a box as per instruction by Troy and Lime and used pumice for our substrate. We put the tree in a mostly shaded area with muddled sun. Off to recovery right? Well yesterday I found my cat Julius, trying it out as a litter box! Any suggestions for deterrents besides large dogs and guns?

What… your cat does not have a Kevlar vest? Home made or purchased repellants can be used.

Different cats may be repelled by different mixes, so experiment until the cat leave it alone.

Thanks Robert, great stuff! he laughed at vinegar, but we’ll give the peppermint oil a try.

Cover the top of the box with hardware cloth (coarse screen). I do that to keep the squirrels out of my seed flats.

Thank you Marty. It seems that something is liking the bark of the Taxus as there are some new marks on the trunk. It was my first thought to use coarse screen for discouragement. Those darned critters.
