Hi, this is David George and like many people that do bonsai, I became interested in bonsai via “Karate Kid III.” I studied martial arts throughout my lifetime and embraced the meditative nature of Mr. Miyagi. Bonsai seems to cross over into other areas of my interest such as nature hiking, and the fine detail work I do in the french culinary arts. As a chef by profession, I use tools that need to be honed for maximum proficiency. I have son who is also very involved with bonsai work and is considering taking a deeper plunge into the art. I attempted a pomegranate bonsai many years ago with about five years of success, but my dog dug it up. Dogs! Anyway, after many years of looking at trees saying “that would make a cool bonsai”, I looked up bonsai on YouTube and guess who I found? So here I am. At 57 years old, I may not see any of my trees fulfill there potential , but there is a younger family member that, if they carry on, could be greatly rewarded.
