Hi all! I recently purchased two Japanese Larch from a nursery. They are probably around three years old and I want to reduce the height on them and prune back some of the whippy branches. When would be the best time of the year to do some harder prunes on a Japanese Larch? Can it be done at any time of the year?
Assuming you are in the northern hemisphere, you can do it in the spring as the buds begin to swell.

If you have the app it is in the calendar for elongating species. Similarly in the library there are several streams of spring pruning on larch.
