Keeping trees dry post repot

I was using a umbrella to keep the rain off my freshly repoted trees and the wind blew it over and dumped out a couple of the trees. Well I don’t want to repeat that so what does everyone else do to keep them dry until they need there second watering. I understand heated green house would be best I think but I don’t have one of those.

I appreciate the ingenuity! I too am in a similar pickle with a limited repot situation. I am looking into making something similar parallel in design to what @NEBeech has. A wooden frame shielded by a plastic sheet. It’s not glorious but it can reduce the wind and rain’s impact.

Here are a few “water proof” structures I have made over the years. A simple, quick and cheap option would be an A frame or a rectangle box similar to the small cold-frame next to the deck with a piece of poly stapled. If it is low (under 30 inches) to the ground you dont have to worry about the wind (sail effect). The taller you make it the more the side need to be covered because it never rains straight down :grinning:…goodluck hopefully the ref images help!
