I have recently purchased a Japanese larch, should I repot it right when I get it or wait until next season? Also, what type of soil should I plant in? I was going to use a boon mix but wanted to make sure that is OK for the larch.

I use the 1-1-1 akadama-lava-pumice mix and mine grow very well. The key to repotting larch is the timing and not bare rooting. The time to repot is just as the buds start to show green tips. If the buds are fully green is getting late and you are taking a chance on an unfavorable outcome.
