Japanese Black Pine Inverse taper by callus

I have a relatively young (15yr) JPB. Great trunk movement. At the first major bend the previous owner had cut off a major branch. It’s almost healed over, but during that process the callus has swelled and created an inverse taper. Does anyone know if I can go in and carve out the callus back into a slightly concave cut, to allow a it to heal over in a more uniform plane with the rest of the trunk. At this location, the bark has not formed the scally thick nice bark yet.

A picture would help but you probably could. Adding some shari might also be another good option.
