H&S covered, now let’s move on to tool care

some unsolicited anorak comment

a Good day @ryan ,

in the last stream (deciduous healing) I see that the talking down by the H&S Department had some good effect and the security squint is now properly engaged. Then we can move on to cover another important topic. Tool maintenance and preparation.

Japanese chisels normally do not come ready to use. Besides any work required on the cutting edge the handle of the nomi also needs attention. The genno is not supposed to hit the steel hoop. Rather it is driven on the handle in a way that the wood folds over the hoop in a mushroom like fashion. Please, not only bonsai need some love, also your tools.

and for the next episode. Proper cleaning and sharpening of cutting tools …

Have a good start to the new year
