I have seen needles posted on the forum that looked like these before but I’ve not been able to find discussion in the forum on what this is and how to management. Does anyone have suggestions on where to look or what the pathology of the abnormal growth is and how to manage this. There are not many that I can see at this time but don’t want this to get any worse.
Have you been using any pesticide to control weed? This is the only thing I know of that could cause this kind of deformation
The garden is organic at this time and has been for the past 12 months. This was a last years needle and on only two sites on the tree. I’ve not found this on any of the other JBP.
I believe this happens when the needle sheath doesn’t fully come off when the needles are elongating.
