I repotted and old shimpaku this Spring and it will likely need another full year of recovery before I can style it. Signs:
- not using a lot of water
- No spiky growth yet
For a tree that I want to leave alone while the root mass recovers, should I clean it? Should I clean and wire it?
there isn’t that much yellowing interior. But I wonder whether the pads could be more efficient and support à better rehabilitation of the root mass, by cleaning and maybe even wiring flat pads.
The browning happened when we got a 100-deg heat wave back in early September. I’m not surprised given the other signs of weak root status.
