Beginner Pot/vessel -Crowd sourced market info

i like the second and third ones the rectangle wants some lip or grove at the top . or maybe just some of the darker material up there . mostly i like that its not so formal or trying to be super perfect .

Thanks that’s a great point I will add a size reference!

I appreciate the feedback, every little bit helps.

I wasn’t thrilled with all these but posted them for me to accept that as part of the process

No problem that’s what we are here for. Depending on the size the others might make some interesting kusaomono.

The smaller one, 3rd picture was intended to be a kusomo. I did a set of three in similar texture different angles and colors (other two are still drying)

I respected the advice but glad I didn’t follow it, it’s a matter of taste but I don’t think it overwhelms it as all

that is looking great, I am dying to add an oak to my collection. How long have you had that one

About 2 years but it’s probably 3 years old . Came from falls in the tomato bead

Anyone ever heard of an antler slab? 36x20 @3.5 inches deep…

It’s actually a birdbath, but I have a small set of antlers I made to make a kusamono with but I’d love to see a larch in here…just to see what it looks like

DAMN! I know some Mainer’s who would sell a kidney just to look at that thing! Really cool! Well done!

Thanks - other feedback was “that’s the most Canadian thing I have ever seen”. So apparently it’s a Northern thing! It was super challenging to build, more than I anticipated

I’ve had a single (found) moose antler for ~40 years. Never considered it for a bonsai pot… I’ll go dig it out…

Coffee mug for scale lol. I didn’t make this specifically for bonsai but potentially for an orchid… unless I find the tree

Small Kusamono pot same size as a coffee mug

BRO…I spent 47 hours trying to get close to that form …if you approach that the way
Michael Hagedorn (https://crataegus.com/) approached the “no pot” approach you can create something that has all the Canadiens jealous. Also do you realize how much those things sell for, it was the reason why I built the birdbath. I went to buy actual antlers and they were $400-$900 . To end my rant …those were worth digging out even if you just put it on the outside deck!

ODL , $500 , why. The Ma. Moose population estimate is south of 70k… they live for >20 years… Shed antlers every fall… There should be millions of them just laying aroud… (They ARE worth more sold to the asain market for aphrodisiac powder…)
This IS the only shed moose antler I’ve ever seen… N E Wa. We only have ~10k moose population here.
