I air layered this apple tree last summer. It didn’t have much growth on it, and of the 3 I did this one survived. Not the best one out of the bunch, but this is what I got now. It’s about 8 months old as an air layer and growing well. Can I cut branches back now to get growth lower on the tree or is that something I need to wait till next spring to make sure the roots are strong
I let the ones I did grow mostly wild the first season. I cut the tips back on some of the shoots once they reached about 2 ft. (60 cm) long, but that was it.
