Advice potting/ repotting cascade

Assuming a very deep cascade pot, does anyone have any advice for initial potting and repotting. I’m thinking that the roots will be allowed to grow deep into the pot but how much to allow this and how much to prune them back each repot, perhaps considering nebari development. Does the aeration layer start very deep and gradually reduce each repot. Any other factors to consider?

As someone that will be doing their first cascade I’m very interested as well.

Ryan has moved away from very deep pots for cascade. It causes some difficulties when the next repot is due. The cascades in his garden are in standard depth pots with appropriate shape for the tree (masculine/feminine), but they sit up on an additional stand if on a bench or up on a monkey pole.
