5-needle Pine vs. Japanese White Pine

Is a 5-needle Pine the same as a Japanese White Pine ?? Confused as why there two names for the same tree
or are they… please explain.

Having 5 needles per cluster is a feature of several species. It’s used as a reference for a class of pines.

A JWP is, of course, a 5-needle pine. In the US, there are also the Eastern White Pine, Limber Pine, both of the Bristlecone Pine species, and a few others.
