Just wanted to talk about Monterey pine and the possibility for them to be considered a multi flush species. I know Ryan has discussed this on stream before but we are coming in to our growing season here in NZ so wanted to document their growth habit. Obviously we are in a different climate; temperate (Zone 9b) with a somewhat long growing season, Monterey pine and cypress grow like crazy here, I’ve attached an image to show how profusely they are able to backbud on old wood. I am a total newbie so will most likely be conservative this year by following Ryan’s algorithm of treating them as a short needle single flush pine but I’m super keen to hear other people’s experiences that are perhaps in a similar climate. Very excited to see how this guy progresses!
