Recently purchased this wonderful water oak. Got the trunk, just need to build the branching structure after the apex thickens in a year or two (hopefully creating a nice tapered transition). Excited about working with this tree. Looking for ideas on design. Want to make it a shohin.

You should be ok as long as you can control the rapidity of growth. But this will be a bonus in getting the wound healed.
