Spring Bonsai is hard

Try doing spring bonsai while lying on your right side 45 minutes of every hour due to surgery for a detached retina! And most of the 15-minute breaks are devoted to activates other than bonsai. I should have good vision back in the right eye in a day or two. I am sure that those with only one good eye develop enough depth perception to allow for trimming, but I am sure it takes more than 10 days!

Cats Ear spider update…
One took up residency in the breazway above my security light / camera. She has learned to swing down and WAVE at the infrared senser to SWITCH ON the light (AND camera) to attract bugs… doing it regularly… (her on the left…)

Who says spiders arn’t thinking beings… using tools…
I am moving them around in my bonsai garden, too… to keep the webs out of my face. Gotta love that organic fertilizer!

Oh god! They are evolving! My worst nightmare :exploding_head: :flushed:

I guess spring is over. We are past equanox…
GET YOUR SHADE set up now! It is 93F outside right now! My pot thermometer is at 95… Or, move things into shade!

Everything is growing like crazy!
I put up my 30 x 12 foot shade cloth on my two 12 x 12 pergolas ( seperated by 10 feet.) yesterday. Over the last 25 years, I grew a Norway Maple to shade my origional 20 x 20 garden area. Unfortunately, it is shading way too much in spring and early summer. I had to expand out more… more room, more bonsai! Added 16 feet of bench area this year… It is shaded by my bonsai shed (aka old chicken coup…) and maple tree in the hot hours!
.
Looking forward to our summer club show in three weeks!
Bonsai On!
