Odd slimy stuff

This ‘stuff’ has been showing up about mid-July for 4-5 years. Usually just 2-3" areas of ‘celephane-like’ clear sheets dripping on top branches. Any ideas?
Might be slugs. Dont see any under or near. No slug trails up tthe trunks or around pots.

Top dead trunk / leaves on a very large Elm. It has shown up randmoly on 3 different species trees this year,so far. Doesn’t seem to ‘eat’ anything. No damage seen on any of the affected trees. 70% shade cloth overhead. Not dripping from there. ¿?
.
Since I’m here… anyone recognize this bug? Smished 8 of em. . On a Aspen leaf. Doesnt appear to have eaten anything. No bark affected…? Also saw one 300 feet away on a apricot tree.

The insect, I cannot tell from the body and markings but the size, legs and antenna are consistent with vine weevil. Google it and see if it is the same. If not probably some other type of weevil.

My wife… chased the ID of this bug down. It is a sheild bug nymph. Ya. I have a few of these here, NOT a marmorated stink bug (bad bug…), probably the green or brown. Semi good bug…?
A dead bug is a good bug…
.
Seeing several more of the slime / dried celephane stuff. Decideous and evergren. Heavy on my medium ginkgo leaves. Only seen one young slug. I do have large ~4" slugs around here. Dont see ANY chewed leaves / needles.?
Putting out diatomateous earth in the evenings around some pots. Washes away on waterng…
I’m low on beer. However, I will try a couple of those traps, too.

Caught a slug in one of my beer traps… 5” long and the size of a thumb…

If there is one, there’s 20…

A 5” slug?! Are they invasive or native? I use Sluggo pellets to control the little guys. But from the looks of that slimed branch you might need a proton pack and a ghost trap.

YES, that WAS the point…

Sorry, no photo… I rolled him up in a maple leaf and taught him to fly… These guys are native…?

I was going to make a bad joke about republican souls… Though, slugs do a usefully service…

Have you never seen a photo of a Bannana slug? Google it…. Big as your arm, eats chihuahuas hole…

I HAVE , since, put out sluggo around the display stands.. Iron phosphate…. Great fertilizer…

I do my best to NOT use pesticides or fungicides.. This year, I have seen almost no bug chews or bark beatles…. (Nock on plastic…) Every tree has it’s own type of spider…!

.
Found this guy wandering aound yesterday… Helped her out to my forsythia hedge…. She was probably looking to lay eggs…

I usually only see one a summer. Second one. I saw several egg casings last fall. Usually on south facing walls or fencposts.

Bouncing on fall. Another year going!
