Nippon Daisy (Chrysanthemum nipponicum)

Hello everyone! Does anyone have any suggestions or information on how to grow Japanese Daisy (Chrysanthemum nipponicum)? On Google I only found one blog about it that says: <>.

Does anyone have any other useful information?

I successfIlly kept a chrysanthium as a bonsai for several years. Bloomed nicely. Unfortunately, I was trying to do root over rock…( Eventually died from drought…) From a old Sunset Magazine Bonsai technique. They ARE a perennial woody plant…
Regular bonsai soil, heavy in organic compost. They grow REAL fast and want to be REAL large. Top trimming back to buds after flowers. Didn’t ever do any root work; however, once established, I think minor work every other year. Protect from freezing. I believe it WAS evergreen.
Good luck…

Also tried to do a bonsai bamboo.. The suggested outer sheath trimming… just killed the dominant corm… Died a slow death…

Thank you so much KurtP!

Thank you to for bringing this to our attention. We managed to order some nursery stock for starters,

Longwood Gardens in PA is pretty well known for their annual display of chrysanthemum bonsai. Here’s a good read on it.
