Is this the right time of year to de-candle [ to pull off the older needles ] the black pines?
I f you are in northern hemisphere, the appropriate time to decandle is May/June - July and maybe the 1st week of August. You can pull old needles if you dont need them to balance energy through out the year. However, many people pluck old needles in fall or early spring before the candles begin to elongate. If you’re in southern hemisphere I believe December-February would be the appropriate time.
