Greetings! I acquired this Kingsville about 2 weeks ago. I really like the “live Oak” style for these trees. I need some advice on what I should do with this to get it there. Pics of front and back.
The biggest thing I see is to get it growing strong for a couple of years so you have more branching and can convert from the current pom-pom styling. There is some good basic structure for the live oak style, but the current foliage is too far out along the branches. Boxwood are fairly hardy and, in my experience, like to see some winter. I keep my boxwood bonsai in the greenhouse at just above freezing, but I often see near 0F (-18C) which is fine in the ground, but not in the pot. On the other hand, I believe they are kept outside all winter in Georgia (USA, not the country) which has a milder winter than mine.
