Japanese Stone Pine (Pinus Pumila)

Hi guys! I found a Japanese Blue Dwarf Stone Pine at my local nursery about 6 weeks ago and I’m wondering if anyone here has any experience with this species. I haven’t really been able to find much as far as its use as bonsai stock. It’s mostly used as landscaping material, but the foliage and color was too much to pass up. From what I’ve gathered, it is a 5-needle long-needle single flush variety, though I haven’t confirmed that. The foliage is very similar to a Limber Pine seen in the stream that Ryan did here, so that’s the assumption I’ve been operating with. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong about that.

I haven’t seen the sheath drop yet, that Todd mentioned in this week’s stream, so I didn’t want to do any work on it right now. For now, I’m just giving it a heavy application of fertilizer and letting it go nuts, but I wanted to check in here before I started digging in and make any major changes/pruning decisions. I’d appreciate any insight you guys have. Thanks!
