I may try some this fall with my ground growing trees.

I dont see the word ORGANIC anywhere on the bottle, either… That is a long list of IN-ORGANIC …chemicals.
Would still need something for the Microbiom to live on…
.
Just saying…
It would be in addition to my organic regimen and at first only on early developmental trees. Ideally I’d like to have a few of the same species and try the dyna gro on half of them.
Cool.
I would stay away from the formula with Napthaleneacetic acids. Growth hormone / Rooting hormone. Screws up he trees hormone balance.
I , also, would dilute it , say more than 1:20. If you apply weekly? Most of it will just wash through. Some will get ‘stuck’ to the soil temporarily. Some will get absorbed by the tree and microbiom…
.
. Your money would be better spent on a good dry 20/20/20 fertilizer (WITH the same calcium, magnesium, iron content), and mix it to a < 1/1/1 in water once a week. Fish emulsion, seaweed emulsion, and a digestable organic media— Biogold. Currently, thats what Im doing. Crazy healthy trees this last 3 yesrs. The Biogold digests in about 10-15 days. Replace it in schedule. I also apply Dr Earth as an innoculant in
Spring anf fall.
Don’t over fertilize with the inorganic. The trees growth runs away, and they DO die… especially too much nitrate. Can’t do this with digestable organics.
Balance. Moderation.

Bonsai On!
When using fish emulsion are you mixing it at the recommended rate for weekly applications or diluted?
Kurt,
-You stated:
“. . . good dry 20/20/20 fertilizer (WITH the same calcium, magnesium, iron content), and mix it to a < 1/1/1 in water once a week. Fish emulsion, seaweed emulsion, and a digestable organic media— Biogold.”
I got lost somewhere.
I’m currently feeding with Bio-Gold and Dr. Earth every other month, as well as fish emulsion every month.
Would you clarify exactly what, and how much, you are mixing at <1/1/1 in water.
Thanks
Les Z
I try to keep this simple. I want to enjoy my bonsai, and not obsess. This is getting to be like rocket science… AND, Im a chemist / Biochemist.
.
What works for me:
.
Biogold on a schedule. Ryan’s application scheme works. I keep mine in contact with the soil, pushed into surface to keep moist. Three years in— great stuff. Good microbiom growth.
Fish emulsion in spring. Moderate dilution. 1-2 Tb. Per gallon. Pour on and water in lightly. Dont overapply… The free Nitrogen will cause quick uncontroled growth. Good micro nutrients. Too much sodium.
Tablespoon or two of each of the others per gallon. Applied moderately and gently watered in. Dont forget to check for the < 0.1 % calcium, magnesium and iron. I love what seaweed emulsion does. Micro nutrients.
Ryan’s current talk about washing out the soil bound up sodium with calcium is spot on. The water pH conversation is applicable also… 6.5 to 7.2 ish. The dissolved carbonates is buffering the pH . Hard water versus soft water in relationship to pH … IS very confusing. Adjusting it may be usefull. My water is about 8 pH. Im testing citric acid to adjust pot pH. Im more focused on soil pH. It’s about the incitu mileau ( How everything works IN the pot for the tree!)… No observable info yet.
The chlorine they put in the water here in the fall pisses me off.
Hopefully you dont obsess about chlorine, chloramines, and fluorine in your water…
.
The above is not comprehensive of everything I do. It works for me in my environment.
Adjust to make it easy for you to do.
Biogold isn’t easily available. Osmocote with seaweed and fish emulsion, and maybe Dr Earth applications, would work just fine to keep a tree happy.
Someone should write all this in a book…
