I just bought a shohin Prunus Mume without leaves. The vendor told me that is was defoliated 2-3 weeks ago, and that it was normal procedure with Prunus Mume to do a complete defoliation in start summer. Do anyone of you have experience with that?

I haven’t grown Mume, but I do have a few Prunus. Mine have just had a second flush of growth, as the first leaves have mostly burnt off (hot here).
Does your new tree have new buds? If so, should be OK. Picture?
Tiny buds here and there - Ill have a closer look when I get home
