I am about to make an order for a new bonsai display stand. It is intended for a tall 40+ inch Monterey cypress. The pot is round, 16 x 4 inches. The canopy measures about 30 x 26 inches. Suggested measurements for the display stand are 30 x 24 x 2.5 inches vs. 26 x 20 x 2 inches. I am not sure the tree’s canopy plays an important role in the size of the stand. How do you determine the best fit for tree and display stand?

Roughly the table has to be a suitable size for the tree, look the right visual weight and display the tree at the ideal height. The videos explain some parts better!!
