Breaking a branch on purpose?

Earlier this year, this tiny tree found a new home with me. Supposedly it’s a Zelkova (although it has very corky bark) and it’s currently a cute Shohin size.

The person I bought it from suggested growing it out big and eventually creating a branch break(!) where the trunk divides into two to bring down one of the trunks as a branch.

Sounds cruel and somewhat uncontrolled to me so I’ve been wondering: what else could I do to correct the crossing / double trunk.
Or is it one of these moments where there’s more potential in embracing the “flaw” as a feature as seen in the cryptomeria stream!?
What do you think?
