Best way to fix or hide a grafted trunk bulge?

Hello friends,

I was excited to find a Abies lasiocarpa at an online nursery but naive me ordered it without asking if it had been grafted. So now I have this little tree with a big bulge on the trunk. Any recommendations for hiding it or fixing it? I’m thinking I might just air layer it right at the bulge.

Thanks!

Hi Benjamin, Welcome to the community, it’s a huge source of information from around the world! Air layering is the best option. Do it above the graft to ensure the roots aren’t from the stock tree.
