Best time to yamadori

hey guys. need advice on when to dig juniper percumbens out of my yard to bonsai. im in ohio and its march 10th. should i wait for buds to push? or do it now

Have you dug anything before? Juniper or otherwise?

I would wait until the buds start to move. You can probably dig earlier since the strength of junipers in their foliage (do not cut back very much), but will have to protect from frost.

yes, deciduous mostly. beech, maple, dogwood, crabapple, just when leaves were starting to open with great success.

thanks Marty, will leave foliage completely alone unless tree is really doing well by fall season. if not will wait till next spring .
