I donât think anyone is looking at this thread but why not , already made âŚpassed the nature test!
These are all really cool. What is the material youâre using if you donât mind me asking?
Thanks I appreciate that, its a mix I have been working on for about 2 yearsâŚbut basically it contains cement base and has different additives for strength and that makes it all weather strong.
This series seems to have much more robust edges. As much as I appreciate the more complicated (delicate) edges I confess to questioning their durability. Did I see that you are working without a kiln? What material are you using? I appreciate the development your series illustrates.
It is.a mortar like medium that contains cement and special additives for strength and extreme temperatures, sometime I will add fiberglass or a meshing at the original layer. The durability has held I have some delicate sculptures in my yard for over 3 years now. I leave them out in the winter in all conditions as a test case. The additives make it frost proof to -40 and heat tolerance is not an issue. It is more like sculpting than the way clay pots are made.
I think it is in this thread, Ive use it for some decorative garden steps I carved to look like stone with very intricate details on the steps and its held with foot traffic and winters.
Super creative pots, really like the realistic appearance, youâve definitely got the technique dialed in. If you ever have a surplus that youâre willing to part with Iâd be interested in trying out some. Iâm in coastal SC and thereâs no native stone around here so you have to purchase any you want to use and itâs not cheap.
Great stuff, really like the round bluish one!
Thanks I appreciate the kind words. The blue one is also my favorite and am hoping to make 3 more of them in the next two weeks. Size is 8-10 inch size at 2.5-3inch deep, for this size I typically charge $135+ shipping (which wouldnât be bad for you). Stay tuned or let me if you want to claim one ahead of time.
