Winter Supplemental Lighting

Hi,
I keep all my trees on my patio. And in spring, summer and fall they get about 10 hours of direct sun. I use shade cloth in the hot summers.
But in winter they only get about 4 hours. And the temps drop below 40F at night so I bring in the tropicals.
Would it be good to give them a couple hours under LED grow lights? Or would that be making it too much like spring or summer.
Thanks

Interesting! I’m no expert but just another tree enthusiast who found out I could make the big trees little to love cherish and learn from! I had a big concern primarily over my tropical species as they can only be outside in my climate for around half the year. So, I made a place they have access to whatever southern facing light I can offer them. That being said it directly over a radiator… but I’ve tried to make the best of it and it’s working out very well! I’d suggest something similar for your Tropicana to allow them a more consistent and gradual ease back into the growing seasons outside!

Thank you for the reply. Love your sunny window.
I can take mine out in the day the temps go up to 70F in the day.
But I only get 4 hours of direct sunight.
Nice collection you have.

I do supplement light for my ficus since they can’t be outside from October till May.
I’v been using these from Spider farmer SF600 74W LED GROW LIGHT

They look decent and have a pleasant light so you’re living room doesn’t have to look like a bad nightclub.
My ficus grow throughout winter.
Think It’s worth it.

Thanks. How far is the top of the trees to the light?

Nice and very streamline.

About 2 feet-ish.

I will second the spider farm style lights. They work well and my weed plants are very happy under them
