Winter Has Arrived In Northern Vermont

My trees are now happily tucked away for the winter… one-third in a climate-controlled greenhouse, the other two-thirds at home in my unheated garage.

Garage temps can dip to mid-20’s when temps outside drop to zero. Shohin and mame trees are stored in plastic tubs, packed in cedar mulch up to the rim; pots of medium sized trees are wrapped in bubble wrap. See photos below.

This approach to proper dormancy has worked for me for the last 25+ years. Hope it provides another option to those in search of solutions.

Summer until Thanksgiving and then all of a sudden it is winter.
Typical VT weather!!
But Hey, my larch finally turned yellow!!

It comes quickly. My trees are all tucked away for winter now. :sunglasses: See my recent post.

Will try to connect with you at a GMBS meeting early in the new year.
