Have been growing this Hinoki out for a few years and just did an initial styling on it. I originally wanted to do a single trunk reminiscent of hinoki trees in the mountains in Japan but I felt like the trunk shape needed to stay as a twin trunk.
I’m considering eliminating or shortening the branch in red to show more of the second trunk, and also moving the second trunk further away from the main trunk with wire/a wood block. Overall I’m going for a feminine slender feel. I’m also thinking to reduce the height of the main trunk to the red line depending on how it grows. Would love to hear some thoughts.

I agree with your proposed changes.
I think the twin trunk works. I think shortening the main truck is also a good idea, maybe even a bit more then your red line. I don’t think the two low branches are doing anything for you. The one you indicated and the one on the left side of the main trunk. I think have the bottom third of tree free of branches will be more representative of what you’d see in nature and more feminine.. Thanks for sharing - RM
Thanks. I’m leaning towards removing the first right branch and I know the bottom left branch isn’t very indicative of nature… I’m going to leave it for now (have the tree on forum Q&A) and see what Ryan says.
Just a little update, Ryan suggested on the forum Q&A bringing the trunks closer together and reducing height of the shorter trunk. He agreed that the lowest branch on the right will need to go. He also said I’ll need to start pushing back the length of branches after growth hardens off to keep the silhouette as narrow as possible.
He also suggested using the lowest branch on the left as a reiteration and bringing it up
I think I agree with his explanation so I’m going to give it a go and see where this takes me!
