Trident maple seedlings help

I bought some trident maple seedlings in July in hopes to plant them in my garden in spring. I put them in my greenhouse as temps dropped to the 30s and most of the leaves had dropped, now all the bigger leaves are gone ,but the young sprouts at the top of a few are still hanging on I’ve checked to see if they would pull off , but they are very much attached, as if the trees are still growing, what do I do so I don’t loss them when they freeze. I live in central Illinois, thanks

I would slow their descent into winter as much as possible to allow the leaves to drop. I would then keep them above 25F for the winter. My guess is that they will then come back in the spring.
