I have a Neea Buxifolia that I just cleaned the top layer of soil off with a shop vac and added new Akadama and pumice.
Should I add a top dressing with sphagnum and Akadama to the top layer? I’m not sure if the top dressing is needed for tropical trees.
I would probably top dress. Top dressing holds the moisture closer to the surface for the surface roots and helps prevent the breakdown of akadama from impact during watering or rain.
