Recently saw the Randy Knight Yamadori aftercare video where he mentions using a bed of woodchips for new yamadori recovery. It sounds like he puts the tree on the ground and then makes a berm of woodchips around the rootball. Was wondering if the berm has solid sides (like wood) or more open sides (like with chicken wire) to allow more oxygen into the roots? Anybody seen his set up or know? Or know if it makes a difference?
