Plenty of copper!

Annealed a bit of copper wire yesterday!:+1:t2:
I’m always checking our repurposing stores in my area. Score :+1:t2::metal:t2:

Nice! If you want to get rid of most of the oxidization make sure to quench the wire quickly in water right when you pull it out of the kiln/oven. The oxidization pops off when the wire is worked and is often super fine and can become airborne. From what I hear it is not good to inhale.

…some questions:

  • did you use a kiln or something less exotic, like gas BBQ grille?
  • any idea what temp you took the wire to, and how long you kept it there?
    Thanks…

I used a good old fire :fire::grinning: I have been working on finding a used kiln for the right price, then I will be able to keep a consistent temp. Here is an article I referred to. :evergreen_tree::metal:t2:https://www.evergreengardenworks.com/copperwi.htm
