Pine grafting -how to get reps

I tried scion grafting a pine for the first time earlier this year. Only in two spots and I probably didn’t need to wait until now to say it was a failure. I obviously need to get some practice in.

What is the best way to do this? I have plenty of stobus I can use as “leanring trees”, is there a limit to the amount of attempts you can try on a branch/tree. I have watched the content related to it and understand it, it’s more about execution. Any suggestions, advice or thoughts?

I spent a couple of years grafting as many scions as I could on the Loblolly volunteers that sprout up around the edge of my yard. Some are even in pots now and the foliage is fully converted. I consider anything over 30% success to be a good year for me.
