New Nursery Stock Prune / Clean and Repot? - First Time Bonsai

I recently got 2 Junipers and 1 Pine from a nursery. From what I’ve read and learned it seems that I should repot now then wait a year and then style.

Am I able to clean and prune a bit to get a general idea of what the structure looks like? I would like to be able to have a ballpark idea of potting angle and best front based off of trunk line and not just the nebari.

Yes, the rule of thumb is only one major operation per growing season, if you leave enough on the tree it will grow plenty of foliage this season which will provide you the basis to grow new roots after the repot the following year.
